Bertrand Russell reference

I just came across a welcome Betrand Russell reference in an introductory music book I have been reading: Introduction to Music.

The book gives a brief chapter-by-chapter overview of several periods of art and popular music in western culture. At the commencement of each chapter, a general list of important historical events of the era are chronologically listed. A portion of the list for the chapter entitled “American Popular Music and Jazz after 1900″ reads as follows:

1901: Queen Victoria dies; Edward VII becomes King of England; Planck developed Quantum Theory

1905: Einstein, Special Theory of Relativity; first Russian Revolution
